The story says that the river of Apollo stopped running after the Persians took over the city. When Alexander went down to the bottom of the temple to pray to Apollo the river started running again. Alexander took this as a sign that he had the aide of Apollo. After Gaza Alexander headed to Egypt. When he arrived he was greeted as a liberator. He was appointed pharaoh. He was finally recognized as a god on earth.
